Its problems started after its founder, Amer Abdulaziz Salman, faced money laundering charges in the United States.

Salman was allegedly part of the cryptocurrency scam OneCoin. Although Phoenix denied the allegations, several significant organizations cut their ties with the group. France Galop hasn’t confirmed the ban. However, the regulator canceled two entries for Jojo Rabbit in upcoming races. 

According to bookie software reports, the ban came due to the concerns over the source of funds of Phoenix. It was the first time a horse racing regulator acted against Phoenix after the allegations came out nine months ago.

Earlier this week, Phoenix announced its withdrawal from Britain. It will cease its racing operations in the country. However, it will continue to have runners and entries.

France Galop wrote to the BHA to provide an update on Phoenix’s ban. Also, it said that they would not accept Phoenix horses trained in Britain. However, the BHA didn’t comment on the French restrictions or the exit of Phoenix.

Phoenix doesn’t train its horses in France. However, the group enjoyed success in the country. After the French ban and exiting Britain, Phoenix is venturing into other racing nations. It announced a plan in Australia, where it will remain as an active buyer at sales. However, it doesn’t appear as a buyer in any auction this year, according to a sports betting blog.
